Job summary

SightMD, a growing ophthalmic provider, seeks an Ophthalmic Technician Assistant to support physicians and ensure smooth patient flow. You will help with intake, basic eye tests, and accurate documentation in the EHR, while coordinating prescriptions and communications across teams.

The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance, professional patient interactions, and a rotating schedule including evenings and weekends. Strong customer service and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a medical office or customer service.
• Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and document reason for visit and symptoms under supervision.
• Document follow-up notes in the EHR and keep patients informed.
• Perform basic eye tests before physician examination and explain tests.
• Process prescription refill requests with appropriate documentation.
• Coordinate and obtain prior authorizations for medications.
• Provide patients with medication use and pre-/post-operative care instructions.
• Maintain professional communication and a positive patient experience.
• Track and communicate lab results to physicians and patients promptly.
