Job summary

Henry Ford Optimeyes is seeking a capable assistant to support doctors during comprehensive visual and medical exams, in-office procedures, and contact lens follow-ups, including preliminary testing and EMR entries.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, basic math and computer skills, and prior customer service or optometric tech experience. Evening and weekend hours are required, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with computers and basic math skills preferred.
• Previous customer service or optometric tech experience preferred.
• Computer and/or electronic medical records knowledge preferred.
• Retail/hospitality/customer service experience preferred.
• Able to walk, bend and stand for extended periods; completion of required training courses.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctor with comprehensive visual and medical exams and contact lens follow-ups.
• Perform preliminary testing and enter data into the EMR.
• Escort patients through the exam process and educate on contact lens handling and care.
• Adhere to scheduling guidelines and time allocations for each appointment.
• Interpret prescriptions and suggest products to address needs.
• Complete department training and required educational requirements.
• Answer customer questions and guide to the appropriate source.
