Momentive seeks an Extrusion Operator for the 2nd shift to operate custom extrusion equipment, ensure product quality, and meet customer specifications. You will follow safety procedures, document production, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain throughput and compliance.

Job description

Job Title: Extrusion Operator, 2nd Shift

Summary: The Extruder Operator Safely and efficiently operates custom compound or hot base extrusion equipment to process and pre-form high-consistency silicone rubber products. This position is responsible for producing material that meets customer specifications, production schedules, and quality standards while maintaining compliance with all safety and operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Ensure machine guards, safety devices, and required controls are in place before operating equipment.
• Safely set up, operate, monitor, and adjust extrusion equipment to meet production and quality requirements.
• Review batch cards, work orders, production records, and specifications to verify materials, settings, quantities, and processing requirements.
• Perform required quality inspections, measurements, and production checks according to work instructions.
• Accurately complete batch records, production documentation, and electronic manufacturing records as required.
• Follow established procedures for material handling, identification, processing, packaging, labeling, and finishing.
• Monitor equipment performance and promptly report safety concerns, equipment issues, process deviations, or quality problems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including during shift changes and production changeovers.
• Collaborate effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to support operational goals.
• Participate in required training and continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.
• Work overtime, alternate schedules, weekends, or holidays as needed to support business requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow production instructions, work orders, safety procedures, and operating documentation.
• Basic math skills, including calculations involving weights, measurements, and quantities.
• Ability to accurately complete production records and documentation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment following training and qualification.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to comply with company safety, quality, environmental, and workplace policies.
• Successful completion of applicable pre-employment requirements, including background screening and drug testing consistent with company policy and applicable law.

Qualifications – Preferred

• One or more years of current experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, chemical processing, or industrial environment.
• Experience operating extrusion, mixing, milling, or related manufacturing equipment.
• Experience following batch cards, formulas, recipes, or detailed production instructions.
• Experience maintaining production records or electronic manufacturing documentation.
• Experience weighing, measuring, mixing, or processing materials.
• Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, quality systems, and housekeeping standards.
• Experience working in a team-based or shift-oriented production environment.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement principles and practices.
