Job description

Join to apply for the Extrusion Operator role at Gasser Chair.

Gasser Chair, the leading manufacturer of high-quality seating solutions, is seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be flexible in other areas of the plant when there is downtime in extrusion and be able to work independently to ensure that production targets are met with high quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Responsible for set-ups and teardowns of extrusion line, including installation and changing of dies, and operating the lines.
2. Responsible for startup procedures and ensuring quality finished products.
3. Troubleshoot and monitor extrusion lines.
4. Produce quality product at the lowest cost.
5. Responsible for equipment used to package finished products.
6. Assist and lead personnel on the extrusion line, enforcing safety and quality standards.
7. Continuously observe product quality and make necessary adjustments.
8. Use company instruments such as calipers, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
9. Assist with cleaning dies and sizers (calibrators).
10. Assist with raw material replenishment and stocking finished products.
11. Perform general material handling and packaging duties to maintain production.
12. Work in accordance with safety training and standards.
13. Maintain good housekeeping practices.

Essential Skills And Qualifications

• Two or more years of extrusion experience in rigid and/or flexible PVC. Use of Cincinnati Milacron and/or Davis Standard equipment is a plus.
• Prior hands-on extrusion experience.
• Two or more years of extrusion machine operator experience preferred.
• Able to learn and retain product knowledge.
• Ability to read CAD drawings.
• Ability to operate electric pallet jack and propane forklift.
• Good communication, math, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must wear PPE including safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
