Job summary

The Operator, Extruder 2 at Southwire Company, LLC is a high-skill role that sets up and operates extrusion lines and related equipment, including nylon extruders, coilers, pay-offs and take-ups, on single or two-person lines depending on product complexity.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, English literacy, the ability to stand and lift up to 45 lbs, and adherence to safety, quality, and production standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must read, write and speak English; Spanish bilingual is a plus.
• Must be able to stand and lift up to 45 lbs.
• Must be able to read and comprehend production orders and instrumentation on complex equipment.
• Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Work under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with supervisor and peers.
• Lift up to 45 lbs.
• Set up extrusion line and related equipment with correct tip and die and wire size.
• Maintain correct wire size, insulation thickness and concentricity.
• Apply correct print of acceptable quality on cable.
• Follow ISO Quality System documentation and report quality issues.
• Observe safety rules and maintain housekeeping.
• Review and know Job Hazard Analyses and Safety Data Sheets.
