Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC, a leader in technology and innovation, is seeking an Operator, Extruder 1 in Lafayette, IN. The role sets up and operates extrusion lines, ensuring correct wire size, insulation thickness and print quality.

The position runs on a 7p-7a shift with a pay rate of $29.58–$31.99 per hour. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to read and understand production orders, and lift up to 45 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Must be able to stand and lift up to 45 lbs.
• Must read and comprehend production orders and instrumentations on complex equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to work under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with the supervisor and peers through verbal instruction and reports.
• Set scrap aside in designated bins as part of routines.
• Responsible for proper setup of extrusion line and related equipment with correct tip and die and wire size.
• Maintain correct wire size, insulation thickness and concentricity.
• Ensure correct print quality on cable and use proper color concentrate.
