Job summary

The Delaware Department of Justice seeks a Special Investigator/State Detective for the Extradition Unit in New Castle County. The role requires handling all extradition duties, transporting fugitives by vehicle and air, and flexible scheduling outside normal hours.

Responsibilities include prisoner movement, problem anticipation, and liaison with law enforcement partners to ensure secure operations and successful prosecutions when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years law enforcement experience.
• POST certification required.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive investigative reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and interview witnesses and suspects.
• Verify claims and evaluate evidence and records.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports for review.
• Testify in court, Grand Jury, or hearings as needed.
• May conduct surveillance and undercover investigations.
• Coordinate with partners in extradition operations.
