Job summary

Delaware Department of Justice seeks a highly skilled Special Investigator/State Detective for the Extraditions Unit in the Administrative Division, New Castle County. Qualifications

• Minimum five years law enforcement experience.
• Ability to investigate complex and difficult cases independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive investigative reports for review by a Deputy Attorney General for civil and criminal complaints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Current or recent POST certification.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conducts investigations, including interviews to obtain confidential information, gathering evidence and documenting findings.
• Interviews or interrogates witnesses, victims, suspects and others.
• Verifies claims of alleged or probable violations.
• Examines records and documents to ascertain information.
• Identifies, gathers, collects, evaluates and preserves evidence.
• Prepares criminal or civil cases for prosecution.
