Job summary

Valero is seeking an External Reporting Analyst in San Antonio to prepare external financial reports for the SEC, banks, and other regulators under supervision. You will assemble workpapers, review XBRL, and coordinate with departments to ensure complete and accurate support for financial reporting, including footnotes for audits and Form 8-K filings.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Accounting, 2+ years in accounting/auditing, and CPA or CPA candidacy; Master’s in Accounting is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or higher is required.
CPA or CPA candidate status is required or preferred.
2+ years of accounting, public accounting, or auditing experience required.

Responsibilities

Prepare external financial reports for the SEC, banks, and other regulatory agencies.
Prepare and review workpapers supporting financial disclosures and statements.
Review XBRL instances as assigned.
Collaborate with departments to ensure accuracy of support documents for financial reporting.
Prepare drafts of financial statements and footnotes for audits and other filings.
Stay current on new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and apply them as needed.
Assist with identifying and resolving technical accounting/reporting issues.
