Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an experienced Exterior Launch Engineer to drive readiness for exterior commodities from design intent through pilot, pre-production and start of production. You will be the on-ground interface among design release, manufacturing engineering, and quality during builds at the Long Beach assembly plant, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to protect program timing.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive launch, hands-on experience with exterior body

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Automotive Engineering.
• 5+ years automotive launch or plant-side product engineering.
• Experience with exterior body commodities such as fascias, bumpers, claddings, moldings, spoilers, glazing, or ornamentation.
• Strong ownership of launch issue resolution including RCA and corrective action.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up and dimensional measurement methods.

Responsibilities

• Own launch readiness for exterior commodities across all build phases from prototype to start of production.
• Lead build event support at the assembly plant and prototype shop, including part staging and first-time build documentation.
• Interface between exterior DREs, plant vehicle team, manufacturing engineering, STA, and quality.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective action on fit, finish, gap, and other launch issues.
• Manage exterior launch issue list and drive closure through design or process changes.
• Support tolerance and dimensional strategy execution and correlating variation studies to builds.
• Coordinate part readiness with suppliers and purchasing, including PPAP status and tooling maturity.
• Support DFM and DFA reviews and provide manufacturing feedback during release window.
