Job summary

Akkodis seeks an Exterior Lighting Design Engineer for a hybrid contract in Dearborn, MI. You will lead exterior lighting system integration across vehicle programs, validating hardware and software interfaces and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust lighting solutions.

Required 5+ years in automotive lighting with CAD tools CATIA/3DX and Teamcenter; strong root-cause analysis and supplier management skills are essential. Competitive hourly rate $40–$42.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in automotive lighting design, development, validation, or launch activities; 7+ years preferred.
• Strong experience in exterior lighting systems engineering, including software development/testing, electrical integration, CAD tools (CATIA/3DX), and Teamcenter.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional system development, perform root cause analysis (8D/5-Why), manage supplier deliverables, and support hardware/software validation for automotive electronics modules.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and integration of exterior lighting systems (headlamps, taillamps, fog lamps, CHMSL, license plate lamps).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate lighting interfaces and ensure robust vehicle-level performance.
• Review CAD designs in Teamcenter, perform packaging studies, GD&T assessments, and technical analyses.
