Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn is seeking an Exterior Lighting Engineer to own the design and integration of lighting systems, bridging mechanical, electrical, software, and optical disciplines. The role emphasizes Build-to-Print, AI-driven development, and global design rule governance.

The engineer will drive in-house technology, ensure regulatory compliance (FMVSS 108, ECE), and lead DFMEA/PFMEA activities while collaborating with suppliers, studios, and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in design, development, or launch of automotive lighting or similar components.
• CAD Capable with CATIA/3DX/Teamcenter and CAE familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver a robust system at vehicle level.
• Create and present technical presentations for peer and management reviews.
• Sign off on CAD in Teamcenter and conduct DFMEA/PFMEA related analyses.
• Lead design reviews and develop Engineering Statements of Work and ESOWs.
• Identify required validation and tests per SDS & ES.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
