Job summary

Washington State University Extension in Coupeville, WA seeks an Extension Coordinator to lead the Island County Master Gardener Program. You will recruit, train, and supervise over 150 volunteers who educate the public on home gardening, coordinating activities at 25+ locations and special events.

You will collaborate with the Island County Master Gardener Foundation to ensure a healthy, funded operation, and prepare briefings and reports for stakeholders including the University, donors, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline with two years of related experience (or equivalent).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team within a matrix organization.
• Experience collaborating with public agencies and NGOs; strong program assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management for the Island County Master Gardener Program.
• Recruit, train, lead, coordinate, and support 150+ volunteers.
• Engage with community members at 25+ locations and events to expand reach.
• Prepare and present briefings and written reports to the University, Foundation, officials, and partners.
