Job summary

The University of Maryland Extension is seeking a Faculty Extension Educator to support Anne Arundel County home horticulture programs, coordinate Master Gardener volunteers, and collaborate with partners on educational initiatives.

You will develop seminars, publish educational materials, and manage volunteer programs while promoting outreach to diverse communities. Strong communication, leadership in volunteer settings, and a willingness to work flexible hours are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Experience working with volunteers and diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, conduct, and evaluate seminars, classes, workshops, and other presentations on home horticulture.
• Create educational products (fact sheets, blogs, videos) and social media content.
• Manage the Master Gardener Program including volunteer recruitment and supervision.
• Respond to clientele inquiries via phone, office visits, and email with timely, professional advice.
• Provide pest control and fertilizer recommendations per University guidelines.
• Collaborate with partners to extend outreach to underserved audiences.
