Job summary

The Surry County Cooperative Extension seeks an Agriculture – Livestock and Forages Agent to lead and evaluate an education program for county producers on beef, pasture, nutrition, waste management, pond care, and youth livestock initiatives.

The agent will engage farms with research-based information, build partnerships, and expand program capacity by developing community resources and collaborating with county departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural or related field required.
• Preference for Master’s degree in agricultural field.
• Ability to travel within county and occasional travel outside.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain organized programs following NC Cooperative Extension policies.
• Determine clientele needs and impact through regular assessment of programs.
• Collaborate with Extension programs, staff, agencies, and community organizations.
• Network with agents, specialists, and local producers to plan events.
• Promote Agriculture within the county and manage youth programs.
