Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist families during arrival and departure.
  • Ensure welfare, health, and safety of each child.
  • Assist with planning crafts and activities with the Site Coordinator.
  • Communicate information from families to the Site Coordinator.
  • Work with staff to keep the room clean and organized.
  • Participate in activities and supervise play within safety limits.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Monitor children on the playground and ensure no one is left alone.
  • Maintain updated CPR and First Aid certificates on file.
  • Assist with release of children to authorized pick-up contacts.
  • Provide children with varied games and activities from Extended Day cabinets.
  • Report to Site Coordinator on incidents and device any needed actions.
  • Plan and execute assigned activities and manage staff when needed.
  • Act as Site Coordinator in the SC's absence.

School Year 2026/2027 Extended Day Assistant Site Coordinator Application

Walpole Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Site Coordinator for the afternoon session (2:30 to 6:00 pm) at Old Post Road Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.

Ideal candidates are responsible, energetic, and committed to working with students in a supportive educational setting.

Extended Day Assistant Site Coordinator Job Description
  • Greeting and interacting with parents at arrival and departure time. (Get to know their names).
  • Seeing to the welfare, health, and safety of each child.
  • Plan a craft or special activity with the Site Coordinator.
  • Bring any information or requests from families to the Site Coordinator.
  • Responsible for working with other staff to clean room areas thoroughly. All materials to be returned to the original place.
  • Participate in physical activities with children such as sports, playground, gym, etc. to your physical comfort and abilities.
  • Responsible for attending all staff meetings, workshops, in-house training and professional development opportunities.
  • At all times Assistant Site Coordinators need to be aware of the position of the children on the playground as well as the well-being of each child. Children should never be left alone.
  • Assistant Site Coordinators must have updated CPR and First Aid Certificates on file.
  • Responsible for releasing children to those who are listed on the Authorized to Pick Up list only.
  • Responsible for providing students with opportunity to engage with a variety of games, building materials, and activities available in the Extended Day cabinets.
  • Responsible for informing the Site Coordinator when they have placed a child on a break, gave a student a consequence, or addressed an issue between students.
  • Responsible for planning and executing assigned activities.
  • Manage and Develop staff.
  • Act as Site Coordinator when the SC is absent

Assistant Site Coordinators report directly to the Site Coordinator.

Rate: Starting rate is $18.45/hour

Assistants Site Coordinators not currently enrolled in high school must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

The Walpole Extended Day Program provides on-site before- and after-school care for all children enrolled in a Walpole Public Elementary School. Each program maintains at least a 13:1 student to adult ratio and is designed to provide all students a variety of options to be creative and learn through both play and social interaction. Physical recreation is offered daily indoors and/or outdoors. Quiet space for reading and homework is provided daily in addition to a variety of structured activities/crafts, recess/PE play, presentations, and clubs at no additional charge.

The morning schedule provides time to eat breakfast prior to the start of the school day and the afternoon program provides a snack and drink shortly after the end of the school day. While we want the children to join us as much as possible, families are able to structure their attendance to meet their individual before and after school needs. Our Before School programs begin at 7:00am and After School programs end at 6:00pm at each of the district elementary schools regardless of normal school day start or dismissal times.

Program activities and daily projects are planned and implemented by qualified staff members from a variety of education and child development backgrounds.
