Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Extended Care Aide to provide a safe, nurturing environment for students before and after the school day in Villa Ridge, MO. You will supervise children, coordinate activities, and support daily routines in line with Catholic values.

The role involves assisting with check-in/dismissal, organizing activities, helping with homework, and fostering positive behavior. A background check and child-safety training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.
• Dependable, patient, energetic, and nurturing personality.
• Ability to work effectively with children of different ages and abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to providing a safe and positive environment for students.
• Willingness to support the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
• Must complete required background checks, child-safety training, and other school-required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide active and attentive supervision of students during extended care hours.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all children.
• Assist with student check-in and dismissal according to school procedures.
• Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, reading, outdoor play, and quiet activities.
• Help students with homework, when appropriate.
• Assist students with snacks, meals, and personal needs.
• Encourage positive behavior, cooperation, kindness, and respect.
• Follow established classroom and extended-care rules and behavior expectations.
• Maintain appropriate student-to-staff supervision at all times.
• Help keep activity areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Communicate concerns about student behavior, injuries, or other issues to the Extended Care Coordinator or appropriate school personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Support and model the Catholic values and mission of the school.
• Follow all school safety, emergency, child-protection, and supervision policies.
• Assist with special events, school activities, and other duties as assigned.
