Job summary

Nueces County is hiring an Expunction Clerk to manage the legal process of removing or sealing criminal records. Responsibilities include notifying law enforcement, courts, and DPS; maintaining and updating records; and guiding the public through expunction procedures.

The role requires handling sensitive data with confidentiality, operating case management systems, and coordinating with judges, attorneys, and state agencies.

Qualifications

• Legal terminology, principles and practices of modern office administration; customer service/public relations practice and procedures; English usage, computer, procedures and equipment including filing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret criminal documents; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills with high discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare expunction packets, envelopes and certifying documents for motions and orders.
• Distribute information to appropriate agencies and prepare files for court.
• Record processing: issue court orders, seal cases, update computerized records.
