Job summary

Covia in Independence, OH is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to manage export container shipments and assist with maintenance of leased railcars across the U.S. and Canada. The role involves building contacts, coordinating freight, and resolving issues with internal teams and external carriers.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in logistics or related field and 1–3 years in supply chain or logistics, with proficiency in MS Excel, TMS, and ERP systems. Some travel (5–10%) is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in supply chain or logistics preferred, especially export logistics.
• Experience with bulk commodities by rail is a plus.
• Experience with blue water carriers and railroads, railcars, bulk trucks preferred.
• Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Strong communication, team player, and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and obtain favorable rates for export shipments.
• Coordinate shipment bookings with customer service, operations and sales to meet needs.
• Resolve booking-related issues such as schedule changes and cancelled sailings.
• Identify export logistics service providers responsive to container export needs.
• Maintain Covia's railcar fleet maintenance with diversion to shop and repair cost approval.
• Track loaded railcar pipelines and coordinate with railroads as needed.
• Establish trucking KPIs and provide trucking reports upon request.
• Provide export cost analyses and fleet maintenance cost analyses.
