Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is hiring an Export Coordinator - Ocean to support international ocean export operations. You will coordinate shipment activities, assist with bookings, documentation, and tracking, and ensure timely, accurate execution of export processes.

You will work with shipping lines, customers, and internal teams to support vessel departures, documentation accuracy, and compliance with procedures. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; degree in logistics or related field preferred.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, or related operations.
• Basic ocean freight, container shipping, and export docs knowledge preferred.
• Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS/forwarding tools or ability to learn quickly.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean export shipments including bookings, container movements, and vessel cut‑offs.
• Prepare and process export docs such as bills of lading and shipping instructions.
• Enter and update shipment details in CargoWise and other TMS systems.
• Track sailing schedules and milestones to ensure on‑time departures.
• Communicate with steamship lines, NVOCCs, drayage providers, and overseas agents.
• Follow export compliance, carrier rules, and internal procedures.
• Identify documentation errors or delays and escalate as needed.
• Assist with rate entry, charge validation, and billing accuracy.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status and docs.
• Maintain organized shipment files and records.
• Provide workload coverage during peak shipping periods.

• Follow export compliance requirements, carrier rules, and internal operating procedures.
• Identify documentation errors, cut‑off risks, or shipment delays and escape appropriately.
• Support rate entry, charge validation, and billing accuracy.
• Respond to customer inquiries related to shipment status and documentation.
• Maintain organized shipment files and records.
• Assist with workload coverage during peak shipping periods.
• All other duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; undergraduate degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or related operations roles.
• Basic understanding of ocean freight, containerized shipping, and export documentation preferred.
• Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS/forwarding tools or demonstrated ability to learn systems quickly.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and time‑management skills.
• Ability to follow defined procedures and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling and protecting sensitive information.
• Technical: Proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.).
• Environment: Comfort commuting to/from and working in a 100% on‑site setting (listed in this posting), with travel for related meetings/events.
