Job summary

Magnet Forensics is seeking an experienced compliance professional to lead product export classification and regulatory compliance. This role blends engineering insight with regulatory discipline, requiring knowledge of EAR, ITAR, encryption technologies, and cryptanalysis.

You will partner with product management and engineering to classify software/hardware, prepare licenses and filings, and build governance processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or related discipline.
• 5-7+ years in export controls, trade compliance, or regulatory compliance for advanced technology products.
• Experience classifying software, encryption products, cybersecurity tools, or digital forensics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specs, engineering docs, and code concepts.
• Strong understanding of cryptography, encryption tech, cryptanalysis, cybersecurity, or forensics.
• Experience working with software engineering teams in an agile environment.
• Trade compliance certifications or equivalent credentials.

Responsibilities

• Determine and maintain export classifications under EAR/ITAR.
• Analyze product features, source code, encryption capabilities, and cryptanalytic functionality for compliance.
• Prepare ECCN determinations, CCATS submissions, and related documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, product management, and legal teams.
• Develop and maintain governance processes, records, and training for compliance.
