Job summary

Austin Powder is seeking a Blaster to conduct field tests and determine the explosives needed for jobs. You will interpret drill patterns, set up shots, and communicate blast details to crew on site to ensure safe and successful detonation.

You will perform pre/post shot safety audits, maintain required paperwork, and coordinate with APC personnel and the Location Manager to address customer issues and public concerns while upholding all safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 21+ years old as required by ATF.
  • Current blaster's license as required by state.
  • Experience with initiation systems, laser profiling, and seismographs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must meet state and federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive possessor.

Responsibilities

  • Review drill patterns and diagrams to determine shot layout to meet customer needs.
  • Communicate blast details with all personnel on site.
  • Prepare and detonate shots safely and successfully.
  • Conduct pre/post Shot Safety Audits per policy on all shot events.
  • Ensure crew complies with customer policies/procedures; coordinate handling of issues and public concerns.
  • Maintain safe, healthy work environment and comply with regulations.
