Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated in Boston is offering a six-month Exploratory Chemistry Co‑op for students pursuing an advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. You will work cross-functionally, learn from industry leaders, and gain hands-on experience in PD Media Development, solubility testing, and data analysis.

The program runs January to July 2027 as a paid co-op, with on-site, full-time hours and a focus on launching your career in a dynamic biotech environment.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an advanced degree program (MS/PhD) and eligible to work in the U.S.
• Experience with LC-MS and small molecule chemistry.
• Ability to prepare reagents, run experiments, analyze data, and support cell culture studies.
• Availability to work full-time January–June 2027.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize chemical reagents and mixtures to support T1D small molecule studies.
• Support solubility and stability assessments for chemical mixtures.
• Process LC-MS data to evaluate identity, integrity, and degradation profiles.
• Document experimental methods, observations, and results clearly.
• Summarize findings and provide recommendations to optimize small molecule workflows for the T1D program.
