Thomas Jefferson University seeks a senior Database Architect/Administrator to design enterprise database architecture, establish governance, and lead modernization efforts across SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud platforms. The role emphasizes security, high availability, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will mentor teams, optimize performance, and maintain governance artifacts while ensuring regulatory compliance and ongoing modernization initiatives within a large academic health system.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include 7 years related work experience.
• Proficiency in relational and cloud database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, and Google Cloud SQL.
• In-depth knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies (clustering, replication, AlwaysOn) and security practices including encryption, auditing, and role-based access control.
• Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, and PL/SQL, and IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 7 years related work experience
• Proficiency in relational and cloud database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, and Google Cloud SQL.
• Strong expertise in data modeling and architecture (ER modeling, normalization, schema design) and performance tuning techniques such as query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
• In-depth knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies (clustering, replication, AlwaysOn) and security practices including encryption, auditing, and role-based access control.
• Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, and PL/SQL, as well as infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible for database provisioning.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds DPA) and compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• or Master’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
