Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia seeks an experienced Systems Engineer Manager to lead the design, deployment, and governance of enterprise systems across Windows and Linux environments. You will drive architecture decisions, coordinate with Dev, Ops and Security, and ensure security/compliance in cloud and on-premises platforms.

Qualifications

• 7 years related work experience in enterprise environments.
• Expertise in systems architecture and design for enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Proficiency with virtualization and cloud platforms (VMware/Hyper-V/AWS/Azure).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
• Networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Security and compliance practices including zero-trust; familiarity with monitoring tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 7 years related work experience
• Expertise in systems architecture and design for enterprise environments, with strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Proficiency in virtualization and cloud platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and Azure, along with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, and Bash, as well as networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Strong understanding of security and compliance practices, including identity management, zero-trust principles, and regulatory frameworks, plus familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Knowledge of CI/CD integration for system deployments and disaster recovery/high availability solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or Master’s Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
