Description

At Barkfield Animal Hospital, we’re not your average veterinary clinic—we’re a modern, compassionate, and team-driven animal hospital that believes in breaking the mold of impersonal veterinary care. Our mission is to make veterinary visits feel like home for both pets and their humans. Located in the heart of Cumming, GA, our team dreams big, works hard, and supports one another—because together, we excel, grow, and have fun doing what we love.

We’re proud to care for animals of all breeds and species and to welcome humans from all cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. We create personalized care experiences and strive to exceed expectations—every visit, every time.

We’re looking for an energetic, tech-savvy, animal-loving multitasker to join our team as a Full‑Time Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative. This role is primarily focused on veterinary reception and client service, while also providing opportunities to cross-train and support our boarding, kennel, and patient care operations as needed.

If you enjoy connecting with people, caring for animals, and being part of a team where no two days are exactly alike, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

What You’ll Do

Client Service and Veterinary Reception

  • Provide friendly, high-quality customer service with compassion and enthusiasm
  • Greet clients and pets warmly and create a welcoming front‑desk experience
  • Answer phones, schedule veterinary appointments, and respond to client questions
  • Collect patient histories and ensure accurate information is documented
  • Check patients in and out and communicate patient needs to the veterinary team
  • Process invoices, payments, estimates, and other financial transactions accurately
  • Determine vaccination, immunization, and wellness status of incoming patients
  • Manage prescription, food, and product requests under veterinarian guidance
  • Accurately enter and update client and patient information in the practice management system
  • Assist with appointment confirmations, reminders, and client follow-up
  • Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and welcoming reception area
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and management
  • Help create a next-level client experience from the first phone call through checkout

While reception and client service will be the primary focus of this position, you’ll also have opportunities to cross‑train and provide support to our boarding and kennel operations as needed.

  • Assist with the daily care and monitoring of boarding and hospitalized patients
  • Feed, walk, exercise, and provide basic care for boarding pets according to established instructions
  • Monitor pets for changes in appetite, behavior, comfort, or overall condition and communicate concerns to the appropriate team member
  • Assist with safe and compassionate animal handling and restraint when appropriate
  • Help maintain clean, sanitary, organized kennels, runs, treatment areas, and patient spaces
  • Assist with laundry, stocking, cleaning, and other hospital support duties
  • Provide additional support to the veterinary team during busy periods
  • Learn additional hospital and patient‑care responsibilities through cross‑training

Note: This is primarily a Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service position. Boarding and kennel responsibilities will be incorporated into the role as needed, with training provided to help you become a versatile member of the Barkfield team.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of veterinary, medical, customer service, or reception experience preferred
  • Previous veterinary reception or animal hospital experience is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable answering phones and interacting with clients in person
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable learning practice management software, email, and digital communication tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced veterinary environment
  • Team-oriented with a positive, can‑do attitude
  • Compassionate toward pets and their people
  • Comfortable learning new responsibilities and cross‑training in different areas of the hospital
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to jump in wherever the team needs support
  • Comfortable safely handling and caring for dogs and cats
  • Ability to lift up to 30–50 lbs. as needed
  • Availability to work occasional weekends as needed
