Job summary

Lakeside Spears Animal Hospital in Carbondale is seeking teammates for our Urgent Care unit. You will restrain pets, triage cases, assist with diagnostics and nursing care, and help with medication administration while communicating clearly with the team.

Weekend availability is required. We offer full-time and part-time roles, with a two-tier schedule that includes Mon-Fri 9 AM–5 PM and urgent care shifts Fri–Sun 12 PM–12 AM. Join us for growth and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional veterinary experience preferred, ideally in an ER or Urgent Care setting.
• High work ethic and positive attitude team member.
• Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
• Weekend availability is required.
• Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely.
• Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
• Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
• Ability to set up and process laboratory samples and tests.
• Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs.
• Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skillset.
• Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally to maintain hospital efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets safely and manage triage for incoming cases.
• Assist with diagnostic treatments and nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients.
• Assist with administration of medications and communication within the team.
• Support hospital workflow and uphold core values.

Job description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, assisting with the diagnostic treatments, assisting with nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, assisting with administration of medications, effective communication within the team environment, and alignment of UPC core values.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases

We're Looking For:

Pay Range:

$16/hr+ depending on level of experience
