North Reading Veterinary Clinic in North Reading, MA, just outside Boston, seeks a Veterinary Assistant with surgical experience to join a full-service small animal hospital. You will perform restraint, triage, lab sample handling, radiography, and nursing care for medical and surgical cases.

North Reading Veterinary Clinic is an established, full-service, small animal hospital located in North Reading, Massachusetts. We see dogs and cats Mondays through Saturdays. Our staff provides services such as comprehensive medical care, digital radiography, routine and orthopedic surgical care, dental prophylaxis with radiography, mass removals, ultrasounds, in-house lab work/diagnostics, and more. Job Description

Job Duties

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We're looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 2-years experience preferred.
• Surgery experience required
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Additional Information

Pay range: $18-$24/hr depending on experience
