Job summary

North Reading Veterinary Clinic in North Reading, MA, seeks a Veterinary Assistant with surgery experience to join our full-service small animal hospital. You will assist with triage, restraint, lab work, and imaging while supporting compassionate patient care.

We offer ongoing hands-on training, a collaborative team, and competitive benefits for full-time staff. Duties include anesthesia monitoring, client communication, and helping with medical and surgical cases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience as Veterinary Assistant preferred.
• Surgery experience required.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multitasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform diagnostic imaging.
• Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying stability.

North Reading Veterinary Clinic is an established, full-service, small animal hospital located in North Reading, Massachusetts. We see dogs and cats Mondays through Saturdays. Our staff provides services such as comprehensive medical care, digital radiography, routine and orthopedic surgical care, dental prophylaxis with radiography, mass removals, ultrasounds, in-house lab work/diagnostics, and more.Our goal is practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
