Job summary

The Pivot Group Network is partnering with Otsego manufacturers to identify a skilled Tool and Die Maker who can design, build, and repair dies, tooling, and fixtures. You will interpret blueprints, select materials, and set up CNC and manual tooling to meet exacting specs.

Ideal candidates have a formal apprenticeship, 5+ years of experience, and strong metallurgy knowledge, with CAD/CAM proficiency for design and programming. This on-site role is based in Otsego, MI.

Qualifications

• Formal apprenticeship in Tool and Die Making or related field.
• 5+ years of setup, operation, and maintenance of manual and CNC machine tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and material properties.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software for design and programming (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam).

Responsibilities

• Design and build new dies, tools, and fixtures.
• Repair and maintain existing production tooling.
• Perform precision machining operations using lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of tools and dies to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tool design and performance.
