Job summary

Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Owensboro, KY, seeks a Surgical Assistant to provide direct assistance to physicians in procedural areas, both invasive and non-invasive. The role includes visualization of the operative field and assisting with hemostasis and dressings, in a high-stress OR environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience preferred, and NCCSA/NSAA/NBSTSA credentials with BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' surgical assistant experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required upon hire.
• NCCSA/NSAA/NBSTSA credentials required upon hire.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation.
• Assists with achieving temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assists with wound dressing application and drainage system securing.
