Job summary

Alternatives is hiring a Sous Chef in Billings, MT. The role supports meal preparation and delivery for residents and staff, with meals three times daily year-round.

You will train inmate workers, supervise operations, and ensure compliance with safety standards in a correctional kitchen environment. Requirements include a high school diploma, 3+ years in food service with supervisory experience, and the ability to pass background checks and drug testing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in food services including large-scale prep and supervisory experience.
• Must be able to pass a physical and work in a correctional kitchen environment.
• Able to pass background check and federal drug testing.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals, snacks, plates, and items per resident meal plans.
• Train and supervise inmate workers and food service assistants.
• Supervise food services when the Chef is absent and maintain sanitary conditions.
