Job summary

Society of Critical Care Medicine seeks a Respiratory Therapist to support a full-time team at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. The role involves days shifts, 36 hours per week, with weekend and holidays on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities include delivering and guiding chest therapy, diagnostics, and critical care procedures for a wide patient age range. You will assess, treat, and monitor patients, explain procedures, and participate in family education.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC) required.
• RRT or registry-eligible status required.
• State licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner in Illinois required within 6 months of employment.
• Current CPR certification required.
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS required within 24 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs and guides all forms of respiratory therapy and related diagnostics.
• Assess and treat patients from neonatal to geriatric, involving family in care plans.
• Administer therapies and manage equipment, with knowledge of indications and risks.
• Provide advanced respiratory care and airway management, including CPR support.
• Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis; perform related quality control.
• Perform pulmonary function testing and related calculations.
• Explain procedures to patients and staff; deliver home care instructions.
• Participate in continuing education and collaborate with nurses and physicians to optimize patient care.

Education

CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or registry eligible

Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure

CPR certification (American Heart Association)

ACLS, NRP, and PALS within 24 months of employment
