Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens as ordered.
• Maintains documentation and logs as described by QA program.
• Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures viability of supplies.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories as needed.
• Processes incoming orders for lab testing.
• Processes in-house and incoming reports.
• Identifies and bands patients for blood product transfusion and labels specimens correctly.
• Operates designated lab equipment as directed.
• Performs waived lab testing under CLIA guidelines and records controls.
• Complies with regulatory standards and OSHA requirements; maintains a clean work area.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.
