Job summary

Kern Medical is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for a per diem position in Bakersfield, CA. You will assist with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties, maintaining sterile technique and supporting the surgical team in a fast-paced OR.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program (CAAHEP/ABHES), and NBSTSA Surgical Technician Certification, with at least 3 years of acute care OR experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program (CAAHEP or ABHES).
• Surgical Technician Certification is required through NBSTSA.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preoperative patient transfer, positioning and transport.
• Maintain sterile technique and prepare instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Perform instrument counts and draping per policy; assist in the Time-Out protocol.
• Prepare sterile dressings and handle specimens as directed.
• Demonstrate strong aseptic practices and support the surgical team throughout the procedure.
