Job summary

The State of Colorado is seeking a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to deliver medical care to inmates at the Denver complex. You will perform exams, diagnose conditions, and prescribe medications within the CDOC formulary.

Responsibilities include emergency coverage, rounds, and collaboration with healthcare teams. Travel to other facilities may be required; adherence to clinical standards is essential for patient safety.

Qualifications

• Current, valid APN license in Colorado OR Physician Assistant license in Colorado.
• APN specialty must be General Family Practice or AGPCNP; PA specialty must be Family Medicine.
• Willing to obtain full prescriptive authority (RXN) within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for inmates within clinical settings.
• Prescribe medications from the CDOC formulary per guidelines.
• Offer emergency medical coverage, including life support when needed.
• Travel to other correctional facilities to assist during staffing crises.
