Job summary

The Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a qualified Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to deliver medical care to inmates in Limon, Colorado. You will perform exams, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment within a correctional clinic, infirmary, or special needs facility.

Responsibilities include prescribing from the CDOC formulary, conducting sick calls and emergency care, and collaborating with health care teams to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Current, valid licensure as APN/NP from the Colorado Board of Nursing or as PA from the Colorado Medical Board.
• APN specialty in General Family Practice (FNP) or AGPCNP; PA specialty in Family Medicine and General Practice.
• Willing and able to obtain full prescription authority (RXN) within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for inmates in clinical settings.
• Prescribe medications from the CDOC formulary per guidelines and policies.
• Conduct sick calls, emergency treatment, and chronic care clinics as assigned.
• Travel to other correctional facilities to assist during staffing shortages.
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Review offender health records and test results; perform venipuncture as needed.
