Job summary

Automation IG, a Chattanooga-based OEM, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design weld fixtures, gauges, tooling, and automation equipment. Requires 3+ years in direct equipment design, strong 3D CAD skills, and GD&T knowledge. Pro/E/CREO and Windchill experience a plus.

All positions are 1st shift with a safe climate-controlled work environment. Automation IG offers 401K with match, paid holidays and vacation, medical, dental and vision coverage, year-end bonus, and overtime pay at 1.5x base

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable direct design of specialty equipment.
• Clear understanding of automotive GD&T is important.
• Not an entry level position.

Responsibilities

• Develop robot end of arm tooling and custom machines for automation.
• Apply 3D CAD designs to manufacturing processes.

Mechanical Design Engineer to perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design of weld fixtures, gages, tooling, custom machines, robot end of arm tooling, and automation equipment. Self-starter with proven design experience in a 3D CAD environment is required along with working knowledge of manufacturing processes and practices. Minimum of 3 years of verifiable direct design of specialty equipment is required. A clear understanding of automotive GD&T is important. This is not an entry level position. ProE/ CREO and Intralink / Windchill experience is a definite plus.
