Overview

Immediate position available for a Mechanical Machine Designer focused on the design of automated equipment and material handling systems. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in designing special custom machinery and automated material handling systems using 3D Solid modeling software, specifically SOLIDWORKS.

Responsibilities

• Detail and check drawings and develop machine layouts.
• Read blueprints, apply GD&T tolerance specifications, and work with electro-mechanical components as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Collaborate with Sales & Estimating to develop Concept Designs and Plant Layout drawings for RFQ proposals and Sales presentations.
• Analyze equipment designs and provide creative problem-solving solutions to manufacturing processes.
• Multi-task and work under pressure to keep projects on track, within cost budgets, and meet scheduled deadlines and customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D modeling software, especially SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD.
• Experience developing conceptual ideas and presenting engineering concepts.
• 5+ years of experience designing automated equipment and material handling systems.
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and developing 3D simulations.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical components and calculations (e.g., servo drives, VFD, LVDT systems).
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and calculations (e.g., cylinders, valves, switches).
• Experience with robotics and vision systems is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Familiarity with system controls components such as PLCs, HMI panels, switches, and safety systems is also desirable.
