Job summary

Flex in Buffalo Grove IL is seeking an Injection Mold Design Engineer to design tooling, tooling protocols, and fixtures to meet product specifications. The role involves CAD work, DFM evaluations, ECOs, and BOMs, with collaboration across the design and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of mold design/mold making experience, ability to read layouts and drawings, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of work experience in mold design/mold making and/or medical device manufacturing
• Ability to interpret layouts and drawings
• Capacities analysis and design validation understanding
• Proficiency with MS Office (e.g., Excel) and documentation workflows
• Experience with CAD tools and tooling documentation is expected

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer moderately complex tooling protocols for molds, jigs, and fixtures per product specs
• Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) evaluations
• Collaborate with team on qualification, sampling, and final part approval
• Prepare and maintain tool room equipment documentation and ECOs
• Create and update bills of materials and engineering drawings
• Develop hardware/software testing support for customer products and qualifications
• Train technicians and operators on processes and equipment
• Record test procedures and results and implement improvements
