Job summary

Flex is seeking a Tool and Model Maker in Buffalo Grove, IL to produce tooling, development models, and production parts with a high degree of accuracy for new equipment and production environments.

You will read blueprints, select materials, and set up and operate machine tools to fabricate complex development hardware.

This role requires an Associate’s degree or apprenticeship and 1–2 years’ related experience, with strong math, mechanical drawing, and a drive to improve form, fit and cost.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent apprenticeship and/or education is typically required.
• Typically requires 1-2 years related experience.
• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and knowledge of advanced technologies.
• Specialized knowledge of mechanical drawing and design, advanced shop mathematics, and related physical sciences.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, alters, repairs, or maintains complex tooling and machinery.
• Sets up and operates machine tools to fabricate development hardware.
• Works to tolerances of .00002 and closer.
• Collaborates with engineering, tool designers, and manufacturing teams to meet design specs.
• Selects materials and applies heat-treat techniques as appropriate.
