Job summary

Trane Technologies in Waterloo/Cedar Falls area is seeking an HVAC service technician to commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up systems on customer sites. This field-based role requires knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts, with the opportunity to work with internal and external partners on facility projects.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent required, and typically 5 plus years of experience in HVAC. Technical School or formal training is preferred.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld devices (smartphone/tablet).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for 12+ months with clean record; EPA Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with team leader and customer to understand on-site installation/repair requirements.
• Represents company as primary on-site contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment.
• Uses hands-on tools and blueprints/engineered specs to diagnose and repair units.
• Maintains safety and records use/conditions of company assets; may require overtime and occasional overnight stays.
• Adheres to safety standards and works with internal/external partners on facility projects.
