Job summary

Gregory Construction is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator for our civil, industrial, and commercial projects in Charlotte, NC. You will work with a boots-on-the-ground crew to move dirt, grade roadbeds, and operate equipment on varied job sites.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in civil construction, 2+ years of verifiable heavy equipment experience, a valid driver’s license, and a strong safety mindset. Travel to multiple sites and pre-employment screening are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in civil construction.
• At least 2 years of verifiable heavy equipment operating experience.
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel to multiple job sites
• Able to pass pre-employment screening (including drug screen and background check)
• Strong work ethic and team-first mindset
• Takes safety seriously and communicates well with the crew

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to move dirt, rock, and materials.
• Spread, grade, and level materials on roadbeds and job sites.
• Read grade and adjust machine settings as needed.
• Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections.
• Coordinate with crew members using hand and audio signals.
• Load and transport materials using equipment and trucks.
• Inspect, clean, maintain, and assist with minor equipment repairs.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and flexible hours (including nights/weekends as needed).
• Follow all safety rules, company policies, and jobsite procedures.
• Report any safety concerns, equipment issues, or incidents to your supervisor
