Job summary

Superior Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing, Inc. is seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support our Southern California division.

Technicians may begin their service routes from their home address, traveling to client sites as needed. The ideal candidate has eight years of hands-on experience with generator preventive maintenance and repairs, and strong commercial electrical knowledge related to stationary generators and their performance.

Qualifications

• Eight years of recent, hands-on experience performing commercial generator maintenance and repairs.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations and electrical safety practices.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and motor vehicle background check.
• Proficient English communication, written and verbal.
• Must possess personal hand tools for mechanical work and voltage testing.
• Willingness to commute to various job sites in Orange County, LA County, and Inland Empire.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and diagnose issues with standby generators (natural gas or gasoline).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter and battery replacements, and servicing belts and spark plugs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CAT, Cummins, Generac, Kohler, and Detroit Diesel systems.
• Work with DC and AC voltage systems.
• Troubleshoot and service Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
• Conduct load bank testing to verify performance under load.
• Educate end users on proper generator operation and maintenance.
• Provide service and repair recommendations to keep equipment reliable.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Operate company vehicle and complete fleet maintenance reports.
• Maintain records of inspections, maintenance and repairs.
• Communicate effectively with management, team members, and clients.
