Job summary

Towlift Inc. seeks an Experienced Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts and related equipment at customer sites in Columbus, OH. This role is primarily field-based, requiring travel to client sites for scheduled maintenance and complex repairs.

You will deliver high-quality service, minimize downtime, and communicate clearly throughout the repair process. A valid driver’s license and strong customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical/training preferred.
• 3+ years as a service technician in material handling/heavy equipment/auto.
• Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools/software.
• Ability to read schematics and interpret manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and independent field-work capability.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field.
• Perform preventative maintenance and component replacements.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and propose effective repairs.
• Provide repair estimates and communicate recommendations to customers.
• Operate shop equipment as needed and review work with customers.
• Utilize mobile tech to close jobs daily and capture signatures.

Experienced Forklift Field Service Technician

Pay Range: $32–$38/hour (based on experience level)
Sign-On Bonus: $2,000

**TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION, YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING AS A FULL-SERVICE AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC, DIESEL MECHANIC/TECHNICIAN, HEAVY-DUTY MECHANIC, OR FORKLIFT MECHANIC/TECHNICIAN.**

Position Summary

As an Experienced Field Service Technician, you will independently diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of industrial equipment including forklifts, railcar movers, container handlers, and terminal tractors. This role is primarily field-based, working directly at customer sites to perform both scheduled maintenance and complex repairs.

You’ll serve as a trusted expert to our customers—delivering high-quality service, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring clear communication throughout the repair process.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on industrial equipment in the field
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements
• Accurately troubleshoot breakdowns and determine effective repair solutions
• Provide repair estimates and communicate recommendations clearly to customers
• Operate shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders as needed
• Review completed work and maintenance findings with customers
• Utilize mobile service technology to complete work orders, capture signatures, and close jobs daily
• Collaborate with dispatchers and account managers on job status and customer needs
• Maintain company-provided vehicle, tools, and equipment
• Follow all safety procedures and reporting requirements

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Technical or vocational training preferred

Experience & Skills

• 3+ years of experience as a service technician (material handling, heavy equipment, automotive, or related field)
• Proven experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools/software
• Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical manuals
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently in the field
• Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail
• Strong communication and customer service skills
