Job summary

Reliable Door and Dock is seeking Field Service Technicians to join our growing team in the Madison, WI area. You will install and service overhead doors, docks, and related equipment, ensuring safe, high-quality installations with excellent customer service.

We value strong hands-on skills, a mechanical mindset, and the ability to work both with a team and independently. A valid driver's license and physical ability to lift 50–100 lbs are required, with training and support provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience installing and/or servicing commercial/industrial overhead doors and docks (1+ years).
  • Mastery of hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues and customers.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Capable of lifting 50–100 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Install and service overhead doors, docks, dock levelers, springs, cables, and other hardware.
  • Set up and maintain various commercial/industrial doors, equipment, and accessories.
  • Ensure quality through proper installation, clearance, and balance checks.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to inquiries clearly and professionally.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should:

  • Have one or more years of experience installing and/or servicing commercial and industrial overhead doors and docks.
  • Be a master of hand and power tools, showcasing your knowledge in this area.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude that enables you to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges.
  • Be a team player who can also work independently.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues and customers.
  • Have a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Be capable of regularly lifting anywhere between 50-100 lbs.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, and drive a company vehicle. The employee is frequently required to reach above shoulder height; climb or balance; and be mobile within the office. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Protective Clothing Required:

Closed-toed shoes required. Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes required when working in the warehouse or field. WORKING ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works both in outside weather conditions and near mechanical parts. REQUIRED LANGUAGE SKILLS, MATH SKILLS, AND REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as product manuals, installation guides, instruction books, safety information, drawings, prints, schematics, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ability to write accurate, complete, and neat job notes, service tickets, work summaries, and other records and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, third-party experts, and co-workers.
  • Strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals) and ability to effectively read and utilize a tape measure.
  • Ability to think methodically and apply a logical step-by-step approach to work.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with many different variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
