Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer or Analyst with 2+ years of electrical design experience to join our Palm Beach Gardens MEP team in Florida. You will support the electrical design on large-scale projects, develop reports, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering, 2+ years of design experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD; EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; EIT preferred or must be obtained within 6 months.
  • 2+ years of electrical engineering design experience on large-scale projects.
  • Strong NEC/NFPA code knowledge and energy code familiarity.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; BIM experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work independently or in a team.

Overview

Kimley-Horn’s Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (FL) office is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer or Analyst with 2+ years of experience to join their MEP team.

Responsibilities
  • Support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically working on large scale projects.

  • Participate on project teams in an active production role

  • Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients

  • Preparation of project specifications

  • Preparation of electrical construction cost estimates

  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines

  • Coordination and verification of as-built drawings

  • Perform quality work that promotes client retention

  • Coordinate with specialists for fire alarm, technology and lighting design as required by project scope of work

  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical/plumbing engineers and other disciplines for equipment power needs and sizing electrical distribution

  • Perform electrical design calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules

  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, and power analyses.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of design experience in electrical engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months required
  • Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes

  • Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM — Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
  • Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
  • Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively – The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
