Republic Services in Richmond, VA is seeking an Experienced Diesel Mechanic - B Tech to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, HVAC, suspension and drive train. Shift starts at 4am on first shift.

Under supervision, diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, provide road service when needed and participate in training to stay ahead of new technologies. Competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of technician experience in gasoline and diesel equipment
• ASE Certifications (T1–T8) desirable
• CDL is a plus but not required
• Graduating from automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Maintains a working knowledge of vehicle components and systems and performs preventative and repair maintenance on-site and on the road
• Repairs chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, and air/hydraulic braking systems
• Performs light engine repair and maintenance and inspects suspensions, drive train and steering systems
• Heats and air conditioning, welding and fabrication as needed and provides road service to ensure equipment availability
• Identifies malfunction sources using electronic diagnostic tools and completes company training programs

Furthermore, they do not establish an employment contract and are subject to change at the discretion of the Company.**QUALIFICATIONS:*** Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and consistently demonstrate technical expertise.* Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.* Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.* Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.* Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.* 3-5 Years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair or graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months.* Valid Driver’s License.**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:*** Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.Up to $5,000 bonus included**Pay Range:**The pay range for this position is $23.55 to $32.40\* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions.
