Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an entry-level Diesel Technician C at our Mt. Vernon, IL location. You will perform basic preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and supporting equipment under supervision, including oil changes, fluid replenishment, tire changes, and basic electrical work.

The role offers on-site work with opportunities to learn new technologies and advance along a defined career path, with a shift from 2pm and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO.

Qualifications

• Completion of a certified diesel maintenance program is a plus but not required.
• ASE Certification T8 PM is a plus but not required.
• 1–3 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic preventive maintenance and light repairs.
• Handles oil changes and fluids replenishment, tire changes.
• Assists with minor electrical work and inspections.

Able to conduct visual inspections to identify potential equipment issues and the sources of malfunctions using a variety of tools.* Completes applicable Company training programs.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.**QUALIFICATIONS:*** Completion of a certified diesel maintenance program is a plus but not required.* Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification T8 PM is a plus but not required.* 1-3 years of experience* Ability to follow standard operating procedures and troubleshoot common faults.* Valid Driver’s License is preferredShift: Monday - Friday, Start time 2pm**Pay Range:**The pay range for this position is $20.80 to $28.60\* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions.
