Experienced BCBS Insurance Collections Specialist

Role Overview

The Accounts Receivable Collection role involves managing collection processes for TDD services, including contract analysis, reimbursement, denial management, appeals, and resolving billing issues with insurance companies or responsible parties. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of billing and collection practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years of healthcare industry experience.
• 3-5 years of medical billing and collections experience.
• Preferred: Home Infusion, Intrathecal Pain Management experience.

Responsibilities

• Recognize patients’ rights and maintain confidentiality.
• Follow up on invoices to ensure prompt payment, escalate issues as needed.
• Evaluate payments and denials, apply correctly.
• Identify bad debt write-offs, initiate adjustments.
• Investigate overpayments or duplicate payments.
• Process refunds per policies.
• Coordinate with departments for claim information.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory procedures.
• Make calls to resolve payment discrepancies.
• Document interactions thoroughly.
• Maximize claim reimbursements.
• Resolve denial issues within 5 days.
• Adhere to HIPAA and other regulations.
• Maintain knowledge of NDC numbers, infusion supplies, insurance plans, medical terminology, billing procedures, and codes.
• Share knowledge and work collaboratively.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
